Hell’s Gate

Rise before the sun to capture the magic of first light as it reaches the steaming mists of Hell’s Gate!
We will have the entire location to ourselves under the supervision of an experienced and knowledgeable private guide.

Sunrise Tour

Set your alarm clocks! We'll arrive before the sun does in order to capture the early morning light, starting at 6:45am and finishing at 10:00am.

We know how hungry you'll be after such an early morning photography session, so we've included breakfast at the end of the tour!

Overview

The tracks are safe and easy, though a moderate level of fitness is required as we will be walking for an estimated 20-40 minutes to reach our shooting locations. We will travel at a slow pace and allow extra time to ensure we arrive on schedule.

Itinerary

6:45am – Arrival, health & safety induction before start
7:00am – Shooting starts
9:00am – Finish, rest in café and 30 minutes photo editing time
9:30am – Submitting photos and competition voting time (Hells Gate team will vote)
10:00am – Breakfast time and announcement of winner

Things to Consider

Includes breakfast at the end of tour, onsite photo competition with a prize for the winner and a 50% off on Mud Pool on the day (bring swim wear if you are keen make a day out of it) or buy one get one entry for Mud Pools for future use
Transportation is not included but we can organise carpools from Tauranga

Camera (mandatory)
Tripod
Laptop (mandatory if you want to participate in the competition)
Trial of Lightroom and photoshop (only if you edit your photos)
Very warm jacket, gloves, beanie and comfy shoes

Coni is a Tauranga-based professional photographer who loves nature, hiking, and travelling. Her combined passions took her across Asia to pursue creative photography projects that were subsequently exhibited in New Zealand.

An experienced instructor with a teaching background and a bachelor’s degree in primary education, Coni founded The Wanderer Photographer to share her years of experience in photography with those keen to learn.
